World’s Longest Fingernails Earned by a Woman Who Spent 23 Years Growing Them [Photos]

Ayanna Williams, a Texas woman whose nails in total measures 18 feet in length has been crowned with the achievement of the Guinness world record of the longest fingernails.

Ayanna Williams, is a nail artist from Houston, Texas.

Ayanna, a nail artist from Houston, Texas, was first inspired by a friend to aim towards her current achievement 23 years ago. She has spent most of her adult life growing her nails.

Pulling up her trousers was one thing Williams revealed to be one of her most challenging thing about having such long nails. Her nails take up to one week to paint.

Ayanna uses anti-bacterial soap and a nail brush to clean her nails daily. She regularly applies hardener and a thin layer of acrylic to help them grow.

While she’s making international headlines and getting lots of attention for her nails, and knows she is rather unique, her friends and family think it’s quite normal.

‘To let my children know that anything they want to accomplish can be done. It takes courage, discipline and patience but it can be accomplished'.
Ayanna on her reason for applying for the record.
‘I am elated and honoured. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d make it into the Guinness World Records books!’

Williams recent achievements puts her in the hall of fame of a host of other record makers in the latest book, including the world’s oldest bodybuilder, a cat with the longest tail outstrips and a woman with the world’s longest eyelash.
